If you believe germs cause disease...
…then you believe in the germ theory…OR do you believe in the terrain theory which says that toxic substances and a lack of excretion with a loss of a balanced system are the primary cause of disease? If it’s the latter that is creating the terrain that “feeds” the germs…it’s because the germs are doing their job, not because they are trying to kill its host or because they are just waiting around for opportunities to feed. They are there for a reason. Nature designs everything with purpose, even if you don’t cognitively know what that purpose is.
“If germs caused disease, there would be no one left alive to believe it” - Marizelle Arce, N.D.
Dr. Arce says that metaphorically speaking, the body should be viewed as a garden, needing tending and that influences of contamination and mistreatment can change that garden, the germs only being there to help clean up.
In agriculture, we understand the role of microbes more clearly. They appear on the scene in greater numbers when decomposition is required. Can you imagine what the planet would look like if we didn’t have these bacteria, fungi and parasites to decompose matter? There would be dead plant matter and bodies all over. We would have to create paths through the piles of death to get around. What a horrible thought!
“Sorry honey, I will be late tonight, there was a mound of dead (fill in the blank) to get through on the way back from the grocery store, which was also filled with dead (fill in the blank).” Eew.
So then, why are we conditioned to believe that microbes are beneficial in nature, but harmful in the body? Because we experience symptoms in unison with tests that confirm the presence of a microbe or two (or more). Finding the presence of germs during a diagnostic process for disease does not prove that they caused the disease though, does it? That is an incredibly simplistic view and doesn’t define what is really going on.
What if there is another possible explanation, one that makes so much more sense, and is in alignment with how the rest of the planet operates?
Bioremediation
If you were to look up the definition of bioremediation, you will find a definition that is intended to apply to our external environment.
Bioremediation is a process that uses living organisms, primarily microorganisms like bacteria and fungi, to remove or neutralize pollutants from contaminated environments such as soil, water, or air. It essentially utilizes the natural ability of these organisms to degrade, transform, or remove harmful substances, effectively cleaning up the affected area.
Wow. These simple, little beings “degrade, transform, and remove harmful substances” for the affected area. I thought that warranted repeating. So now, repeat that phrase in quotes, but this time envision this process occurring INSIDE your body. Bioremediation doesn’t just occur for your outdoor landscape, it is also occurring constantly, in your internal landscape. In fact, it happens EVERYWHERE. Because that is how nature is designed to function.
The germs around us, and inside of us, are part of our existence with essential purpose. It is not them or us, we are all one. Our sheer existence is reliant on our biome. We are as much non-human as we are human. That means your ability to survive, to move, to digest, to think, and create vital nutrients, is all because you ARE the sum of your human and non-human parts. Those non-human parts consist of microbes, all. kinds. of. microbes. that intimately engage with your human parts, and just because you don’t understand what each and every one of them does, doesn’t mean that they aren’t absolutely essential to intricate and appropriate function, for your health and happiness.
Homeostasis
The self-balancing process via the intelligence of the body, is known as homeostasis. Medication, toxins, destructive patterns of thought and action go against homeostasis, promoting disease.
Disease is chronic detox in action.
How does the body prioritize survival when exposure to toxins is present, whether the exposure is abrupt and acute or chronic and slow? It will burn through it’s internal resources trying to convert and remove the offending toxins (large and sudden or consistently and slow). If there aren’t enough resources to keep up, the body adjusts it’s actions accordingly. Toxins are removed from the system and stored in tissue to protect the vital organs. Stored, they are less dangerous to survival, but they may continue to create inflammation, because of tissue damage. Your clean up crew includes all the proper microbes (you might call them germs) to decontaminate the surroundings.
The bad guys and the good guys, is there a need for distinction?
Let’s take this sickly looking plant for example. It is riddled with fungus. Notice that the fungus is starting within the damaged tissue region in every location. Some would say that the plant is infected or that it was susceptible to infection because the leaves became damaged. This particular plant was in the hot sun without enough water and nutrients for a long period of time. So why then, did fungus appear on the scene? We will need to understand the distinction between using language like “susceptible” versus “essential” mechanisms to really wrap our head around the mindset shift necessary here.
When tissue is damaged by the process of nutrient depletion, death of those cells is occurring in large numbers, faster than the plant can manage to repair. The more damaged the plant tissue, the more unhealthy it is, right? Sounds like humans, doesn’t it? The more damaged our inner tissue and cells are, the more unhealthy we are. Too many damaged cells leads to damaged organs which leads to…death. How do we learn what is driving that damage? For the plant, you can simply take a picture in an app on your cell phone that tells you what it needs, more fertilization. It actually told us that this plant needs ground coffee which acts as a slow-release fertilizer, aka - nutrition (lightbulb moment). And the result of being malnourished is? Fungus. It’s not just “susceptible” to infection, it REQUIRES the fungus (otherwise known as the infection) because without the fungus, that dead rotting tissue would persist in the environment indefinitely. Is the fungus a “bad” guy? Absolutely not! So far from it. It’s essential to the homeostasis of nature, and it brings balance to our world.
How does this relate to humans?
Think about it. And let’s use the proper language to describe what is happening above, but in humans rather than plants. Nutrient-loss results in damaged tissue, damaged tissue results in death of that tissue, bacteria and fungus are required to clean up dead or dying tissue to create homeostasis or balance in the terrain. So if there is excessive bacteria and fungus, let’s think about it logically…why would that be? Well, I think it’s safe to say that, at the root of this “infection” is a mechanism of nutrient depletion causing death of tissue. In humans, we will also see inflammation wherever the body is trying to correct damaged tissue, and again, this is the right response from the body. It isn’t the problem, it is the solution. Yes, the inflammation, bacteria and the fungus are part of the solution. We can’t leave dead cells floating around in the body.
BUT
If it is chronic, that simply means the malnutrition and toxin burden is also chronic, resulting in a chronic response from the body, in an attempt to clean up the terrain for the sake of homeostasis. Just like that poor plant above. And just like the plant above, we can’t live without proper nutrition, water and sun. A deficiency in any of these WILL result and a chronic state of dis-ease, resulting in a shift in the terrain that warrants the need of a clean up crew. The “bugs.”
Does this change how you view microbes that we refer to as germs? If you would like to learn more about the truth around terrain theory, I recommend this book.
How do we correct this?
Clearly just eating healthy food isn’t enough for everyone, although it’s a start. We need healthy fuel in our machinery if we want healthy terrain. Sounds like a no-brainer right? But what does that ACTUALLY mean? For everyone, it can be a little different and the puzzle can be a complex maze to navigate. You could enlist a well-informed holistic doctor to run a slew of tests in an attempt to find out which toxins, which nutrients, which infections, etc…add up to your particular puzzle. And you won’t find ALL of the pieces here, because there is much more to our terrain than physical influences. We are also energetic beings, with an intimate and essential connection to the world around us and our beliefs about it.
I have been navigating this terrain (see how I did that? ☺️) for over a decade. I have a lot of research and experience with testing, nutrients, energy/frequency and healing. I have traveled both of the paths I am going to put before you.
Option 1 - Change what needs to be changed in your diet, nutrient status, mindset and lifestyle. This will ultimately begin to detox the body, but I would throw some caution to the wind here, because it is really important to remember that the body became toxic and burdened with accumulation and deficiencies, because the system is imbalanced for some reason. It is a combination of environmental exposures, beliefs, generational stuff, dietary and lifestyle choices. You cannot just throw some supplements and detox protocols at this body, you WILL stress it more, if you don’t unlock the foundational reason for the pathway blockages that created this outcome to begin with. You may think testing will show you what you need to restore balance, but I can assure you that you only know what you can test, and you will not be able to test every single thing you need to know regardless of what any doctor tells you. So that leaves shadows of unknowns. Do you want to push mobilized toxins through a body that can’t detox? Heck no! You will create more backups and recirculate highly toxic, converted toxins back into the tissue - creating more tissue damage and ultimately a more deficient state, because these toxins require more nutrients to deal with them. They were stored for a reason, because the body couldn’t eliminate them safely. So now you think re-mobilizing them will result in a different outcome? Isn’t that the definition of insanity? 👀
Some people think chelation protocols are the answer here, because they “bind” the toxin, but those toxins are still moving through your body, eliciting a response that can’t be accurately addressed. Binding it doesn’t always render it safe and many binders can drop molecules that are created from weaker connections, in exchange for a stronger connection with something else. This process forces the mobilization of heavy metals and/or toxins through an under nourished body that stored them to begin with, because of deficiencies that are still ongoing. See the problem? If you had x-ray vision and could identify every possible support needed, then this might be an effective route. If you have ever tried detoxification protocols and felt like sh!t, this is why. You didn’t have the proper raw materials to finish the job, so your body suffered even though you were “binding.”
So, if you put even the best nutrition into a body struggling with a heavy burden of nano/microplastics, toxins and inflammation, that nutrition isn’t reaching the cells. How can it? Can you drive through a traffic jam faster just because you want to? The cells lose their ability to signal and communicate (like you trying to yell to the driver of a car 100 feet ahead in the same traffic jam) and your body will begin the decomposition process as the tissue/cells die. If you sat in that traffic long enough without food and water, you would begin decomposing too, at some point. Sorry, that is morbid, but it does convey the message, doesn’t it? How rapidly this occurs is dependent on your particular circumstances.
The more damaged the tissue, the more unhealthy the terrain, the more sick the person.
Option 2 - Start with some foundational work that will allow the body to choose healing for itself, by proper mechanisms being put in place to regenerate repair cells, also known as stem cells, provide the body with balanced nutrition that can open up microcirculation and feed the cells the nutrition they need, and that will result in a more effective system, overall. A system that knows what to do with accumulation and inflammation. So what is this brilliant solution?
This is a good place to start to learn more. Once you get through this information, you can reach out to me, and let me know if you would like me to explain anything in a little more detail. You will find our FB group link at the bottom of that page in the link above.
When you provide the body with the raw materials it needs to function properly, you don’t need to know every nutrient, deficiency, bug and toxin involved, because the body knows what to do with these things, if it is fueled with what it needs. Think of the savings, both financially and emotionally, you will experience on a more simplified path like this. You can then stop worrying about finding all the right pieces to your puzzle, and start living with more health and joy!!
