Feminine Hygiene Products

Feminine care products are often overlooked as a toxic product, but toxic shock syndrome is the result of a toxic tampon. Commercial products are washed in chemicals like chlorine and these chemicals will imbalance the feminine flora creating an environment susceptible to candida and bacterial overgrowth.

There are safer options that range from organic paper products to cups and even reusable menstrual pads and washable menstrual underpants! There are so many selections to choose from, there’s no reason to expose your hooha to chlorine! 😳

Whether you prefer tampons, pads or even comfy catch-all underwear, there’s an option for you! Don’t sacrifice your girlie parts out of lack of awareness. This is a growing area of concern and so many amazing options are available for every type out there.

Organyc Cotton Pads

These happen to be my favorite organic cotton pads. They also make tampons. The difference between these and many other brands is that these are 100% organic cotton, sourced from Italy, while other brands only have an organic top sheet, ick!

Organyc brand pads are MADE SAFE certified, meaning they’re made with safe ingredients not known or suspected to harm human health, animals, or ecosystems. The pads are are breathable and hypoallergenic, with no chlorine bleach, latex, parabens, perfumes, SAP, plastics or man-made materials. Each pad has protective wings and comes folded and individually wrapped.

Organyc has been thoroughly tested by gynecologists in two studies. They studied women who had moderate to severe sensitive skin issues. Ninety percent of the women in one study who had sensitive skin reactions to other brands had none when using 100% certified organic cotton products like Organyc for women. In another recent study Organyc brand pads were compared to one of the world’s leading brands. Organyc was proven far superior in all aspects of skin comfort while providing unsurpassed absorbency even though Organyc contains no man-made absorbent materials.

Lola organic

Lola is a subscription mail-order program that allows you to customize each box according to your unique cycle and flow.

Lola’s philosophy on pads and liners is simple: if it’s going in your underwear, it should be made with natural ingredients that feel good.

Most pads (yes, even some of the ones that use organic cotton) also contain synthetic ingredients, which explains that uncomfortable diaper-like feeling.

Lola skips the synthetics altogether. Their pads, liners and tampons are made with hypoallergenic, 100% organic cotton. For seriously soft and breathable comfort, right down to the core.

With this link, you will receive $5 off your first order.

Imse Vimse Organic cotton reusable cloth pads

Save money, the environment and your body all in one. It may seem scary to consider using reusable menstrual pads, but they rinse really easily in the sink and go into the wash with everything else!

A lot of women suffer from discomforts such as yeast infections, itching and other discomforts. Sometimes disposable sanitary pads tend to worsen or even be the cause of the problems. Disposable pads and tampons are made of many different materials such as plastics, chemicals and perfumes that won’t let your skin or vulva breath. The climate in your underwear can get quite humid and warm during times, especially wearing a pad and during menstruation.

  • Using cloth pads made of natural cotton that will let air through and doesn’t contain any toxins or chemicals will help keep your vulva happy and hopefully free from discomforts.

  • Cloth pads will keep you dry and fresh and are so soft and comfortable that you will hardly even notice wearing them.

Imse Vimse are stringently made in Sweden.

Aisle PERIOD UNDIES

These are awesome! Simply put, Aisle underwear are period-proof undies that hold up to 4 tampons’ worth — yet they look and feel like regular underwear. You can use them in place of pads or tampons, or in addition, to catch overflow. I personally think they are perfect for comfort, especially when sleeping. I don’t like to worry about them if I plan to be out all day on heavy-flow days, so I prefer the disposable options above, but for lighter days, all day at home and night time, there is just no comparison. The act of changing them while in public though, no thanks! So I am selective about my use.

Perimenopause makes for a good time in the flow arena, so I have been known to layer my period undies by wearing my favorite style under the boxer brief overnight for my heaviest day. There is nothing worse than being woken up by overflow in the middle of the night. That’s a thing of the past now. ☺️

There have been reports about PFAS in 65% of period panties. Good news, aisle came out on top!

Lena menstrual cup

The Lena Cup is a healthy, safe and conscious alternative to pads and tampons. Lena is a bell-shaped reusable silicone cup that collects your menstrual blood. Inserted like a tampon, Lena Cup sits comfortably in your vagina and can be safely worn for up to 12 consecutive hours.Great for the environment since you will only need one or two during a lifetime of menstruation. You can dance, run, swim and swim with a menstrual cup.

**Lena is a good beginner cup.

The only drawback in my opinion is that we still don’t knew enough about silicone toxicities, so it feels a bit like an experiment until we know more about silicone’s potential health risks.
